A Jealous God

I had a dream recently where my wife was showing interest in other men. Yes, I know it sounds weird. I don’t normally have dreams like this. During the dream I was overcome with feelings of jealousy. Those horrible aches that you have in the pit of your stomach when you have been betrayed. Anger and sadness mixed together.

I awoke from the dream very early in the morning and lay there contemplating its meaning. I was still feeling the emotion of the dream.

Then I sensed Father God say to me, “I am a jealous God.”

Oh, how our heavenly Father longs for us. He wants our time. He wants our attention. His heart aches for us but we keep ignoring him. Just imagine the things that he has in store for us if we would just sit still and be with him.

Papa, thank you for your patience with me. I know I am so busy. Help me to rest in you.
